New to Church?

Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about St Mary’s Church, Summerstown.

Key information about the church...

Where & when does the church meet?

Our Church meets every Sunday at 10:30am and 6pm for our Sunday services. On the first and third Sundays of the month is a traditional holy communion service in the morning, the second and fourth Sunday is an informal morning service.  Each service lasts between an hour and an hour and a quarter.

We meet at:

46 Wimbledon Road
London SW17 0UQ

You can see a map on our contact us page and more details on our Sunday Services page.

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a warm welcome particularly from our welcome team who will be able to answer your questions, will give you an order of service and direct you to where you need to go. Our services include time for singing, prayers led from the front, and a Bible reading and a talk explaining the Bible passage.

The person leading the service will tell you what you need and you are welcome to join in or listen in to whatever you feel comfortable with.

After the service tea, coffee and biscuits are served - a chance for some of us to say hello to you!

What happens to the kids at church?

We have groups for the children during the service.

Play space (young children and babies) - we have a space in church for play for young children with their parents during the service, you're welcome to use this with your children
Crèche (up to 3 years) - a sound-proof space in the church hall for parents to take their younger children during the service if they’d like to, you can listen to the service there
Sunday Club (3-6 and 7-11 year olds) - games, crafts and Bible teaching for the children during the service

Children stay with the adults at the start of the service for the first songs and a children’s spot. The leader will announce when it's time for the children to go to their groups.  If your child is new to church, feel free to accompany them to their group, get them settled in and, if they're happy, to leave them there.

See more information about Sunday Club here.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
