William Clay
Roger invited the descendants of Private William Clay, who is listed on St Mary's Church War Memorial,
to attend the Remembrance Service and place a framed photograph left on his doorstep
about fifteen years ago.
The photograph was placed this year by Roger
as he has done every year since.

'Stand up to Hatred'  was the theme of the
Morning Service on Sunday,
25th January 2009 during which Roger told the story of
Charles Coward, a British Prisoner of War, 
who stood up to Holocaust hatred and
prisoners from Auschwitz.
St Mary's children present a set of cards with the photographs and stories of courageous people who also stood up to hatred and discrimination and
made a difference.

We ate very well at our 'You Matter!' barbeque in July and so too did our guests...
